Pure Magic in San Miguel – An Unforgettable Luxury Experience
As Texans who fell deeply in love with the storybook charm of San Miguel de Allende Mexico, finding the perfect photographers to capture our wedding felt like looking for a needle in a haystack. We wanted something cinematic, timeless, and deeply emotional. When we stumbled upon De la Teja Studio online and discovered that Heidi and Gerry had actually lived and shot weddings in San Miguel for years, it felt like fate. Their portfolio left us breathless, but it was that very first phone call with Heidi that sealed it. Within moments of hearing her warmth and passion, we knew we wouldn't let anyone else capture our day.
What we didn't know then was that we weren't just hiring world-class photographers; we were bringing in two absolute guardian angels.
The week of the wedding, a massive logistics debacle left my parents stranded at the airport in León after our hotel manager failed to arrange their ride. My parents don’t speak a word of Spanish and were completely lost. Without a second thought, Heidi and Gerry jumped into their own rental car and drove all the way to León to rescue them. That level of fierce protection and genuine love for their clients is unheard of. We were forever grateful before the wedding cameras even turned on.
From there, the "De la Teja luxury experience" was pure magic. They surprised us by taking us up in a hot air balloon at daybreak, creating a surreal, ethereal memory of the city floating beneath us that we will carry forever. They effortlessly documented our welcome dinner, and even graciously retook our engagement photos right there in San Miguel because we hadn't cared for the ones we had done back home in Texas.
As someone who went to school for photojournalism, I have an incredibly keen eye for composition, light, and narrative. To say I am blown away by their talent is an understatement. Throughout our entire wedding day, Heidi and Gerry moved with a smooth, calm, and flawless vibe. They were everywhere, yet completely unobtrusive—almost like ghosts capturing pure emotion. Much of their work is stunning, raw candids, but they also stepped in effortlessly for our formal family portraits, chatting with our guests and putting everyone entirely at ease. They noticed every single beautiful nuance, every unscripted tear, and every burst of laughter.
The magic didn't end when the reception did. Heidi and Gerry stayed through the weekend, joining us for a gorgeous send-off brunch and taking us to the local hot springs for a breathtaking, artistic "mess the dress" session.
Everything was meticulously covered, flawlessly executed, and beautifully curated. We now hold a stunning, custom storybook heirloom album that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Heidi and Gerry, you didn’t just photograph our wedding; you wrapped our entire family in your hearts. We are beyond thrilled, forever happy, and endlessly grateful that your website found its way to us.

✨We always knew our ceremony had to be in San Miguel de Allende. Over years of vacations, we had fallen utterly in love with its cobblestone streets, wandering mariachi bands, and old-world charm. We intentionally kept our guest list very small—just a handful of our closest friends and family for a deeply private gathering. But as we interviewed wedding planners in San Miguel, none of the photographers they recommended gave us that spark we were searching for.
Then, fate stepped in.
My wife spotted a breathtaking ad for De la Teja Studio in a bridal magazine. It mentioned they used to live right there in San Miguel. Taking it as a sign, we called. Within minutes, they became fast friends. I couldn't get my wife off the phone with Heidi; they were laughing, sharing stories, and connecting on a soul level.
I am the highly analytical one in our relationship, while my wife is all hearts and flowers. I knew how profoundly special this day was to her—the perfect dress, the perfect location, and the irreplaceable photography team to document it. You only get one shot at your wedding day; you cannot redo it. We needed the absolute best, and wow... we are beyond grateful that Heidi and Gerry were available.
Heidi and Gerry’s personalities are beautifully chill, down-to-earth, and comforting.
But beyond their artistry, they are true humanitarians. Heidi is a vibrant people-pleaser who radiates joy, and Gerry went completely out of his way to physically help my grandmother in her wheelchair navigate a historic building that had no ramp. Their hearts are just massive.
The day before the wedding was a whirlwind—a sensational rehearsal, a surreal walk through the park with horses, and a glitzy, glamorous dinner. I honestly would have forgotten half of these beautiful details if it wasn't for their meticulous eyes capturing the "those random moments." The things that go by in the blink of an eye are now frozen in time for us forever.
The magic didn't end at the reception. They stayed a few days after the wedding, taking us around town in their rental car to show us hidden gems from their time living there. We broke bread, shared a beautiful toast, and just soaked in the moment.
